I love it when we’re cruisin’

August 31, 2007 at 9:22 pm (NFL, ankle, blogs, boat, computer, cruise, espn, fantasy, fishing, football, hobbies, injury, life, living, sex, sports, stuff, vacation, work)

I’ll have to admit it. I like that song. Remember when Huey Lewis and Gweneth Paltrow did it for the movie Duets?

So I am headed to Ft. Lauderdale first thing in the morning. Going on a cruise. So my blog will have to take a week off. For my 15 faithfulls, I’ll miss you. Maybe if I talk about sex when I get back my hits will stay up.

Hopefully my ankle won’t give out in mid cruise. I feel like I shouldn’t go. I’ve been out of work for almost 2 weeks because of my ankle.

Fantasy update……..I only drafted 1 player that I had my eye on. I think my team is gonna be o.k. Somehow, the computer glitched and auto-picked michael vick for me. I wonder how many points you get for jail time???

…and I can’t wait

August 30, 2007 at 9:39 pm (NFL, blogs, coin, computer, espn, excersize, fan, fantasy, football, help, hobbies, homework, importance, injury, life, living, math, money, pity, research, season, sex, sports, stuff, time)

Tomorrow night is our fantasy football draft. I was so unprepared last year. I think I did my homework this year. I understand it’s just a coin toss; anyone can get hurt, and anyone can have a break-out season. But, I’m ready.

If everyone stays close to what ESPN projects, I think I will have a very competitive team. I have pick 5 out of 12. I was bummed at first because I didn’t want to be in the middle. After a little research and some math, I think I’ll be okay.

as you can tell, i’m easily excited.

something i learned

August 30, 2007 at 9:32 pm (blogs, help, importance, life, living, pity, sex, stuff)

I guess we all know that the more categories you put your blog in, the more hits you get. Well try putting sex as one of your categories. That boosted my hits big-time. I guess that proves my point in my blog “4 things”.

4….part 2

August 30, 2007 at 3:29 am (bible, excersize, family, guitar, help, hobbies, importance, kids, life, living, money, music, prayer, sex, stuff, time, wife, work, worship)

so, here’s the four areas i want to work on

1. i want to practice the guitar every day. i play all the time, but rarely do i actually practice. don’t forget about your hobby. you should spend time as much as possible investing in what you love to do. something other than your job.

2. i need to excersize daily. there are plenty of reasons for this. i guess i need to add eat right to this one. but i need to spend at least an hour a day excersizing.

3. prayer and reading the bible. let’s face it, if you are a christian, you need to spend more time in prayer and reading. i really want to step it up in this area.

4. family time. this one gets neglected the most. i count sitting there watching t.v. not saying a word to each other. that’s not quality time. no matter how much you have going on, don’t forget about your family. i need to pay more attention to my wife.

these four things are way more important than the last four. okay, we have to work, which makes us money, which gets us stuff. and sex is cool (if you are married, of coarse). But, if you can spend a little more time focusing on these insted. You will be happier and live longer.

don’t you agree???

4….

August 29, 2007 at 3:51 pm (help, life, money, sex, stuff, time, work)

there are 4 areas of my life i want to strengthen. but first, here’s four things most people strive for

1. work – climbing the ladder, scratching your way to the top. putting in countless hours to accomplish something that will soon be forgotten

2. sex – single guys spend most of their time trying to get it. If they are trying to live right then they spend most of their time trying to get it off of their minds. Married guys are trying to make time for it or sometimes even scheduling it. some of them even look for it elsewhere. I don’t know about girls, i guess they don’t spend quite as much time thinking bout it.

3. money – some would say this goes hand in hand with work. but this one is worse. people work hard at trying to get easy money. playing the lotto, hitting the dog track, scamming their insurance company, junk lawsuits

4. stuff – some would say this goes hand in hand with money. but this one is worse. this one is the appearance of money. this is where people really get into trouble. trying to “keep up with the jones’ “. buying on credit, getting that car that was a little too much, shopping at all the cool stores, impulse buying.

these are four things people invest a lot of time into that, in my opinion, won’t really get you any happiness. (not long term anyway) stay tuned for part 2……..

one day in a…….

August 29, 2007 at 1:13 am (help, life, pity, wheelchair)

I think everyone should spend at least a day in a wheelchair. i was in one today. it’s a lot harder than it seems. you’d be surprized at how many normal things become very difficult in a wheelchair. so next time you have the opportunity, help someone out.

“Scummer Weekends”

August 24, 2007 at 2:37 pm (childhood, hygene, life, teenagers)

When I was a teenager, I used to do these things I called “scummer weekends”. Every once in a while I would go to my uncle’s house and spend the weekend. I wouldn’t shower or change clothes or anything like that. Just “scum it”. Sure it sounds gross and you just changed your whole view of me but, there was something about it that i loved. I’m not exactly sure what it was. Don’t get me wrong, as soon as I got home I hit the shower.

As I’m writing this, I’m trying to think of something profound to tie this into but I can’t. I guess I just thought of it because my ankle is jacked and I don’t feel like getting in the shower. But my wife would probably leave me if I pulled a “scummer weekend”. Plus, I was usually pretted wasted when I did that. Now I’m sober and can tell when I stink.

it hit me tonight

August 23, 2007 at 2:46 am (church, crave, kids, life, music, worship)

At crave, we sometimes get frustrated when the kids don’t get into worship. Tonight they were just standing there looking at us. But it hit me as I looked across the stage at our worship team standing there singing and/or playing. How can we expect our kids to do something we are not doing. Times like these I just want to start over. Get all new band members, and all new singers. Start fresh. I don’t want to put on a show, and I don’t want people to be fake. We just need people who are willing to worship God. We are training our whole youth group wrong. And we wonder why they won’t worship…………..
